Jennifer Gordon is the artistic director of Allegory Dance Theatre, its choreographer and an accomplished professional ballerina. She has worked with Atlantic City Ballet, Instinct Movement Collective, several dance/entertainment companies and in many theatrical productions. Her performance credits include various roles in the Nutcracker, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Carabosse in Sleeping Beauty, Victoria in Cats, the Spring Waters pas de deux, Side Effect Earth, Concerto Vivaldi, and many more. With her focus in ballet and pointe, she is also trained in styles such as; pas de deux, jazz, contemporary, modern, tap, African dance, acting, and conditioning.
Through Allegory Dance Theatre, Mrs. Gordon founded the New Glory program that brings dance to senior citizens suffering from dementia. She is currently working toward a certification in the Progressive Ballet Technique and creating the Hope Dances program for children with special needs. Jennifer has been teaching for just over 15 years and is proud to call Dance Class in Laurel Springs home. Training students in ballet and pointe, Mrs. Gordon places emphasis on proper technique, artistry, and maintain the joy of dancing. She has taught along the East coast and helped to implement a dance program on Fort Dix army base. Several of Mrs. Gordon’s students have gone on to successful careers in companies, performed in national/international tours, are members of acting unions, and have become choreographers and teachers.
Mrs. Gordon has choreographed numerous works for Allegory, Reverie Dance Theatre, student pieces, pageant pieces, and musical productions such as Pippin for which she won an award for outstanding choreography. Jennifer uses real life experiences and classic tales to inspire her choreography and teaching style. Some of the other musicals Jennifer has worked are The Sound of Music, Once on this Island, Addams Family, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. She has also directed and choreographed the Music Man. She was nominated for a Perry Award for Best Choreography award for her work on Cabaret. Most recently, Jennifer received certification to teach the Progressive Ballet Technique.
